Рок-группа The Killers была сформирована в 2002 году в Лас-Вегасе четырьмя друзьями – Брэндоном Флауэрсом (основной вокалист, клавишные), Дэйвом Кенингом (гитарист, вокал), Марком Стормером (бас-гитара) и Ронни Ваннуччи-младшим (ударные). Названия ребята позаимствовали из клипа их любимой группы New Orders “Crystal” – название "The Killers" было написано на ударной установке несуществующей группы, который в видеоклипе изображал New Order. "The Killers" - это совсем не первый вариант названия, до этого было что-то вроде "The Genius Sex Poets", к счастью группа отказалась от этой идеи.
